Topo Architects is an award-winning RIBA Chartered Practice based in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are a collaborative team of architects and designers working on projects across the UK from inception through to on-site completion. Each project we undertake is entirely bespoke; we work carefully and collaboratively with clients to deliver unique, well-crafted, and sustainable buildings that satisfy functional requirements while unlocking the creative potential of a given brief.
We have extensive experience working with both public organisations and private clients on projects of all scales including urban design, architecture, interior design, and joinery. Our ongoing projects include a wide range of new build homes, restoration of listed and historic properties, residential extensions, refurbishments, retail, cultural and community projects.
How we work
Collaboration is key to our process and all our projects begin by listening carefully to the requirements of clients or end-users. Our practice size allows us to offer a personalised and dedicated service with direct contact to an architect throughout, helping to create an ongoing dialogue around which projects evolve.
As projects are developed, we utilise a wide range of media to explore and communicate ideas. Alongside the use of the most recent technology, software and fully coordinated CAD modelling these include sketching, physical models, material tests and prototypes that are made in our in-house workshop.
Our working processes are tailored to the scale and complexity of each project, and we are able to coordinate and lead a wider consultant team where required.
Who we work with
We work on both private and public projects of any size or type, and with greatly varying budgets. We bring agility and clarity to the design process and can adapt to work with differing clients such as an individual on a new home or a multi-faceted charitable organisation.
We have experience working with large, complex organisations, extensive brief development and developing projects alongside capital funding opportunities.
Public clients and organisations that we have worked with include:
The National Trust, The Ouseburn Trust, Gateway Studio CIO, The NewBridge Project, Ouseburn Farm Charity, Tyne Housing Association, Recyke y’ Bike, Newcastle University, The Hatton Gallery, Thirty Six Lime Street, The NewBridge Project Youth Programme, Wild Roots Community Garden, Made & Merchant, CrossFit Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle City Council, Creative Central NCL

We provide a full range of architectural services to help guide both residential and public clients through every stage of a project. Our services are tailored in response to the requirements, scale and budget of a project, and we offer the experience to input at any stage from feasibility studies through to on-site completion.
