Jack Mutton
Director
BA (Hons) CAP DipArch RIBA ARB
Jack is a Chartered Architect and founding Director of Topo Architects. Jack studied architecture at Newcastle University, London Metropolitan University and Cambridge University.
Jack has extensive professional experience working on a wide range of award-winning and Stirling Prize nominated, public and private projects which have included cultural institutions, museums, galleries and private housing with values up to £12.2 million.
Prior to establishing Topo Architects Jack spent an extended period working in London with Carmody Groarke, Stanton Williams and Stephen Taylor Architects. During this time Jack worked on projects including Windermere Jetty Museum, a conservation project for Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Hill House and a Maggies Centre in Merseyside.
Alongside professional practice Jack is a Lecturer in Architecture at Newcastle University. He is a stage coordinator and final year studio leader on the BA Architecture course, has been a design tutor for both the MA Urban Design and MSc Advanced Architectural Design Courses and mentored students as they work towards professional accreditation.
Jack is a member of the ARB (Architects Registration Board) and the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).
Tim Caswell
Architectural Assistant
BArch, MA, BA (Hons)
Tim is an Architectural Assistant at Topo Architects. Tim plays a key role in supporting the development and delivery of projects of all scales and sectors throughout the practice.
Tim holds both a BA and MA degree in contemporary Art Practices from Leeds Metropolitan University and subsequently studied Architecture at Northumbria University, Newcastle. Awarded a First Class degree in Architecture and the Northumbria Architecture Award for Highest Performing BA Student, Tim’s graduation project was internationally recognised and nominated for several national awards. These include the AJ Student Prize 2023 Nomination and Architecture Today Adaptive Re-use Project Student Nomination.
Tim has experience working on live construction sites and has extensive knowledge of working with historic structures. Previously this has involved the sympathetic restoration of a Grade II Listed Georgian townhouse built in 1827 by the Architect Thomas Oliver.
With a background studying fine art Tim brings a creative awareness to all projects that is supported by his practical construction experience.
Benoit Rawlings
Architectural Assistant
BA (Hons) MArch
Benoit is an Architectural Assistant at Topo Architects and has worked with the practice since 2021. Benoit is a key member of the team and brings extensive understanding of the organizational and CAD systems that support Topo Architects quality management.
Benoit studied at Newcastle University and London Metropolitan University graduating with a First Class degree and Distinction in Architecture. Amongst the top graduating students in his year, Benoit was nominated for the RIBA North East Student Award for his final year design thesis.
Benoit is a skilled designer and strong communicator, who has worked on a broad variety of projects since joining the practice in 2021. Most significantly Benoit has supported the design team during the development of numerous residential, arts and cultural projects including 36 Lime Street and multi award-winning NewBridge Project.
